If you are having problems getting BusMate to show you live bus times during the morning rush hour, please read on.
BusMate gets its live bus time information from Transport for London's (TfL) Countdown web service. This is the same for every app that displays live bus times, not just BusMate.
The BusMate team have no control over TfL's service, and when it has problems, that means BusMate (and every other app that uses it) has problems.
As more and more people are using the TfL's Countdown service, both directly and via apps like BusMate, their servers are struggling to deal with the very high traffic during the morning rush hour, between 7.30 and 8.45. This causes timeouts and other errors when BusMate is trying to show you your live bus times.
We appreciate that this is very frustrating for you, our customers, especially considering that the morning rush hour is the one time that most of you want to use the app!
But please note: This is not a problem with BusMate. Leaving a bad review on the app store will not help! All that does, is discourage people from buying the app, which in turn means we will not be able to continue adding great new features in the future.
So, how can you help? By contacting TfL, and telling them that their service is completely unusable during the morning rush hour.
There are over 5,000 people using BusMate, and many other people using other apps and TfL's websites. If we all tell them that their service is unusable during the one time we all want to use it, then they will have to listen, and address the problem.
Send them an E-mail right now to webteam@tfl.gov.uk. We've even written the E-mail for you! All you have to do is add your name at the end, and click Send!
The sooner we all make a noise, the sooner they will listen, and the sooner the problem will be fixed.
Thank you for your support!
